Series Description:

This series consist of catalogue information and manuscript materials.  Charles and Violet Schafer had initially plan was to produce a book on the history, symbols, and use of gavels.  The book was never published. This material included notes, photographs, and ephemera collected for a book about gavels as well as the donor’s catalogue cards which provide descriptions, provenance, and anecdotes for the gavels.  Series arranged as found.
