European Union Materials (BB Rule 21.9)

The European Union is a supranational organization that consists of 28 European countries. 

Acts of the Council and Commission

Documents of the Council and Commission from February 1, 2003 to present should be cited to the Official Journal of the European Union. Documents published between January 1, 1973 to January 3, 2003 should be cited the Official Journal of the European Communities. Documents published before January 1, 1973 should be cited to the Special Edition of the Official Journal of the European Communities or Journal Officiel des Communautés Européennes.

COM and SEC Documents

COM documents include proposed legislation, Commission communications, and preparatory papers, while SEC documents include internal documents of the Secretary-General.
